Guided Trips - Deschutes River Trips

Gudided Trips on the Deschutes River

The Deschutes River, Native Redside Trout, Steelhead on a traditional swung fly you've heard about it, read about it, talked about it, and even dreamed about it now it's time to live it.

Deschutes River, Oregon: From its headwaters deep in the Cascade Mountains to its confluence 230 miles away in the Columbia the Deschutes River, Oregon is one of the most prolific fisheries in the world. Its reputation for Rainbow Trout that fight like "street thugs" and it's wild Deschutes River Steelhead that perform acrobatics like a 13 year old Chinese Olympic gymnast is unmatched in the West. As spring approaches the lower river hatches become more defined; fly fishing Deschutes Salmonfly and Stonefly hatch as well as the lesser known Green Drake Mayfly brings the best and the biggest to the surface to attack these large insects. The arrival of the summer months announce Caddis, Caddis, and still more Caddis. If dry fly fishing is what you are looking for The Deschutes River, Oregon leaves no thirst unquenched. The riffles and back "eddies" are full of these mid-summer "bullets" waiting for the unsuspecting. What ever you do don't show up with your 3 weight...you ever heard of "bringing a knife to a gun fight"? These fish have the largest fin to body weight ratio in the West and love to introduce your backing to the big river. The waning days of summer mark the return of the Deschutes River Steelhead. We get after "chrome" in September and relentlessly pursuit them until Santa and his "red jet sled" deliver’s new fly fishing gear to all the good little boys and girls. This massive river is ideal for the two handed enthusiast, however if floating a indicator and a couple of large flies gets you off...we got nymphing "complexes" sure to satisfy the down and dirty in you.
