We are happy to say that the algae bloom is gone! Seems like it was quick this year, thank goodness! The surface water temperatures are in the upper 70s. Our best fishing has been in the Rock Creek and Quinn Channels. We have been fishing chironomids (red/black, sz 16-20) under the strike indicator, about a foot off the bottom of the channel. The fishing in the channels is consistent in the morning but can taper off in the afternoon. There is a nice spinner fall in the morning as long as long horned caddis hatch.
The daily damsel nymph migration has been occurring between 11am-2pm. During this time, fishing a small black or olive leech can be effective. Slow stripping on a loop knot to give those flies some more action.
4x and 5x fluorocarbon tippet has been key.
