Crane Prairie In The Heat

Crane Prairie In The Heat

The lake is heating up and those fish have moved down as deep as they can go. Keys to success will be finding those channels and fishing them well. My Guides will find a channel, mark each side of it with small buoys and then position the boat in a way so you are able to work the entire area in between the buoys effectively without spooking any fish. Slip indicators are a necessity when fishing deep in the hot summer as they will allow you to present your flies just off the bottom where those fish are concentrated. When you do need to land one the indicator will slide down the leader making it possible to get the fish close and into the net. As the summer goes on fish will become spooky and will tend to eat less and less, but they should be concentrated and committed anglers can have fantastic days, despite the heat.
