Crane Prairie is fishing well. The Cascades Lakes Highway is still closed from Mt. Bachelor down to the Snow Creek Ranger Station. The Crane Prairie Resort boat ramp is still the only accessible boat ramp, so access is not ideal. The cooler weather may slow the fish down slightly but they’ll still be eating. It looks like this week may have a few cool rainy days up there but overall it looks warmer than last week, so fishing will likely be more productive. We’ve heard that balanced leeches have been the ticket. A variation of small midge and chironomid patterns have been getting bites as well, size 20 - 16 should get the job done. It seems that indicators are the way to go, we haven’t heard much about getting bites on the strip. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give it a shot though. Fishing at Crane is only going to get better and better as we move through spring.
