Crane Prairie Update

Crane Prairie Update

Crane has continued to fish well, and with the fish concentrated in the channels there is good opportunity to find consistent action and some nice Rainbows. Getting flies near the bottom in the deeper parts of the lake is key to finding fish. As for fly selection, we are seeing the most consistent success on small Chironomids and Callibaetis nymphs. There is still a possibility of finding fish on a leech or damsel pattern, but for the most part fish have shifted focus to the small aquatic insects that provide such a great food source up on Crane. There is not much going on in the way of dry fly fishing, but an ant or beetle pattern may find an opportunistic fish or two in the afternoons.
