Crane Prairie Update

Crane Prairie Update

The fishing on Crane has remained pretty steady and we are catching good numbers of high quality Rainbows. Most of the fish continue to come below an indicator, although a slow-stripped Leech pattern has also provided success. We’ve been fishing a variety of water types, and have found concentrations of feeding fish in the shallows, channels, and standing timber. Look for fishing to be best when there’s a little chop on the water, and twitch flies intermittently when fishing an indicator rig. As we’ve said throughout the spring, don’t spend too much time in an area that’s not producing fish, move around a lot and make sure to keep flies at an appropriate depth until that indicator starts going down.

Suggested Flies: Black Ice Cream Cone #14, Black or Purple Zebra Midge #16-18, Traffic Light Black Nugget, Tiger Midge #16–18, Black Chironocone #18, Juju Chironomid #14-16, Dark Assassin #16-18, Bird’s Nest Hare’s Ear #16-18, Black or Bird’s Nest Depth Charge #16-18, Bruised Balanced Leech #10-14, Olive Balanced Leech #10-14, Olive or Black Wooly Bugger #10-12, Thin Mint #10-12, Agent Black #16, Olive or Black BH Mini Leech #12
