Crane Update

Crane Update

Warm spring days and lots of sunshine mean that the Cascade Lakes are starting to heat up, as is the fishing. We’ve had several guides up on Crane in the past week who have been reporting solid days and consistent fishing. The most challenging aspect to catching fish in the coming weeks will continue to be finding fish as they are still spread throughout the lake. Covering water effectively is key, and using various retrieve rates to move a leech pattern along shorelines or while wind drifting should eventually lead to fish. Anchor up and fish below an indicator in areas of greater fish activity, in the right areas we have seen fish consistently in the 14-18 inch range. Keep an eye out in the shallows, even a spooked fish can provide valuable information on the type of water where others may be found!

Suggested flies: Dark Assasin #16-18, Black or Red Two Bit Hooker #16-20, Black or Red Ice Cream Cone #14-18, Olive or Black Hale Bopp #8, Olive or Black Wooly Bugger #8-10.
