CROOKED REPORT - 8/14/26
The Crooked River is in a productive summer flow. Added flow has fish spread throughout the river and working the riffles, deeper runs, and transition water.
Midges, caddis, and smaller mayflies continue to make up most of the daily bug activity, with the afternoon offering the best chance to find fish looking up. Dry fly opportunities can develop quickly, so keep an eye on the slower edges and riffle tails for rising fish rather than waiting for a major hatch.
Subsurface fishing remains the most reliable approach with scuds, Zebra Midges, Perdigons, smaller mayfly nymphs, and leeches all producing. With the river running at mid summer flows, a little extra weight and attention to depth can make a big difference in the faster runs.
