Crooked Report - 9/25/26
The Crooked continues to settle into its fall pattern with flows below the dam now hovering around 100 CFS. With the irrigation season winding down and Prineville Reservoir remaining low, flows will continue to be something to watch moving into October. The lower water is making for increasingly technical conditions, but fishing remains good throughout the upper river.
BWOs are becoming a bigger part of the September mix, particularly during cooler and overcast weather. Midges remain important, while PMDs and smaller tan caddis are still worth having available.
Subsurface fishing remains steady with small Baetis nymphs, Perdigons, Pheasant Tails, scuds, midges, and eggs all worth having in the rotation. Soft hackles and smaller leeches can also be good options through deeper runs and riffles, particularly as October Caddis activity begins to increase.
