Crooked River Report 2/11/22

Fishing at the Crooked has been fishing well lately. It’s been really busy out there so remember not to crowd your fellow fisherpeople. Prineville Reservoir is only 19% full, let’s really hope that we get slammed with snow in March, otherwise, the reservoir may start to resemble Wickiup Reservoir. There hasn’t been much surface activity on the Crooked but when the fish do rise they’re likely looking at blue wing olives and midges. Subsurface fishing has been decent with the typically small mayfly patterns and midge larva. Scuds are a good idea, as are small caddis larva. If the nymphing falls off, try a small streamer, a big protein-rich snack can be hard to pass up. Let’s hope the snow picks up again, we need it badly.
