Crooked River Report 7/9/21

Crooked River fishing has been decent. The flows are consistently high at 298 CFS. This is good for the fish because they have plenty of cool water to take refuge in while the heat lingers. Evening fishing has been the best. Surface action is fairly inconsistent but fish will rise occasionally to pale morning duns, caddis and terrestrials. Nymphing is the way to go for numbers. PMD nymphs, caddis pupa and midges are really good. Small mayfly nymphs in the 16 - 22 size range have excellent potential. Euro style nymphs are another really excellent style of nymph to use on the Crooked. Make sure to land and release fish fast so that the heat doesn’t stress them out too much.
