Crooked River Update

Crooked River Update

It’s a great time of year to be on the Crooked, and there is opportunity to fish dries, nymphs, or small streamers on most days. We are still seeing good numbers of PMDs around Mid-day, and Caddis are around on most afternoons. As we move into Fall and the number of cloudy days increases look for dry fly fishing to continue to improve. Until then target fish on the surface when the bugs are out, there are typically some Caddis out in the late evening if nothing else. Nymphing will remain the most productive approach, and a light nymph rig with a small Stonefly or Mayfly followed by a small Midge pattern will be the set-up to maximize action. To change things up, swinging a soft hackle, leech pattern, or Wooly Bugger should produce some tight line grabs!
