Crooked River Update - 5/20/22

The Crooked river had the flows bumped again 5/17 from around 125 to around 250 cfs. The reservoir is only at 32% capacity, so I don’t suspect they will be able to keep these flows through the summer, but we’ll see. The fish should rebound quickly from the change in flows as the river has been up and down numerous times over the last month and a half. BWO’s and caddis will be on the menu for dries and as the weather warms expect to see more and more caddis. Small terrestrial bugs with a dropper nymph underneath can be a fun and effective Springtime method on the Crooked. As always, nymphing is a great method on the Crooked as well. We like small CJ’s, two-bits, and tailwater tinys. The Crooked canyon is a great place to spend a Spring afternoon so get out there and find some fish.
