The fishing up at East Lake has been pretty decent, despite the colder weather, water clarity and water temps. Seems like it takes awhile for the fish to start moving and eating, so being there super early is not necessary. The callibaetis hatch came off late in the morning and lasted for some time. A nice midge and chironomid hatch has been happening throughout the late morning and early afternoon as well. Fishing over the hump, under an indicator (about 16 feet of water) is a great spot to fish when there are no active hatches. Getting down nice and deep! Utilizing size 18-20 purple zebra midges, size 18 dark assasin, and size 16-18 pheasant tails. Once the callibaetis hatch went off, fish were eating on top on the west side of the lake. When fishing the hatch we like to fish parachute adams with a small dropper. Our go to droppers are size 16-18 pheasant tail, size 18-20 spring creek geek, and size 18 olive tailwater tiny.
Other folks have been cruising around in pontoons or float tubes trolling leeches and buggers under an intermediate line. These folks have been successful in hooking up on fish!
