FALL RIVER REPORT - 7/31/26
The Fall River has settled into a dependable summer pattern, with cool spring-fed flows providing consistent conditions throughout the system. Early mornings continue to offer the most consistent.
Summer hatches remain diverse. PMDs continue to provide dependable afternoon dry fly opportunities, while caddis become increasingly active toward the evening. Terrestrials are now an important part of the menu, with ants and beetles producing consistent eats along grassy banks and around fallen timber.
Subsurface tactics continue to produce throughout the day between hatch windows. Smaller mayfly nymphs, Zebra Midges, olive Perdigons, Hare's Ears, and caddis pupa are all producing fish when fished beneath a dry or indicator. As the sun gets higher, stripping a small olive leeches along deeper weed lines and logjams has also been moving larger fish. Long leaders, light tippet, and clean drag-free drifts continue to be the biggest difference-makers on this classic Oregon spring creek.
