LAKE REPORT - 7/24/26
The Cascade Lakes are in a productive summer pattern, providing quality fishing for trout and kokanee. Crane Prairie continues to fish well around weed edges, channels, and submerged timber, while East and Paulina are producing consistent action for both cruising rainbows and larger browns. Early mornings continue to offer the most consistent bite, but anglers staying into the evening are also finding active fish as insect activity builds.

Callibaetis remain the headline hatch across much of the region. Chironomids continue to produce throughout the day, while damselfly nymphs are becoming increasingly important around shoreline weed beds. At East and Paulina, terrestrials are beginning to supplement the menu, giving trout another reason to patrol the shallows during low-light periods.
Indicator rigs continue to produce the most consistent results, with balanced leeches, chironomids, and Callibaetis nymphs accounting for steady action throughout the day. Anglers covering water with slow retrieves using leeches or Woolly Buggers are finding fish along drop-offs and weed lines. As evening hatches develop, switching to dry flies has continued to reward anglers willing to stay on the water through the last glimmers of daylight.
