Lakes Update June 13th, 2025

Hosmer Lake is fishing well in both the lower and upper lakes. While fish numbers in the channel remain low, Red PT Jigs, Chromies, and Callibaetis nymphs are getting attention. Damsels, soft hackles, and leeches should be in the rotation. A few Traveling Sedge sightings hint at skittering opportunities soon.

East Lake is showing promise but isn’t at its peak quite yet—many Rainbows appear to be spawning. Scuds and Chironomids are working best, and Callibaetis hatches are ramping up. Look to fish the full life cycle: stripping nymphs or suspending them near the weed beds. Terrestrials like Ants and Beetles are also reliable.

Paulina Lake is fishing better than East right now. Balanced Leeches and Red PTs under indicators are producing, and stripping Damsels and Minnows across shoals is a great approach. Beetles and Ants are picking up fish on top.

Little Lava Lake has been productive, with dry fly windows during Callibaetis hatches. Chironomids—especially small olives and red variants—are key, along with Red Holographic Jigs, Spicy Squirrels, and Blood Worms. There’s a mix of hatchery fish and some solid wild Cranebows and Brookies.

Crane Prairie reports have been mixed—some days are slow, others solid. Best results are coming from Quinn and Cultus arms. Callibaetis, Damsels, and Chironomids are the main players. Dry-dropper tactics can still work in deeper areas, especially with Chubbies and nymphs like 2 Bit Hookers and Black Double Downs.
