Fishing has been great on the Crooked, and we’ve seen increased opportunity to fish dries to hungry Redsides with the cooler weather we’ve had. There has been a good PMD hatch coming off mid-day, typically starting around 11-12 and lasting for a few hours. Fish have been looking up and Caddis activity through the evenings makes the Crooked one of the best options in the area for those looking to throw dries. Nymphing will be consistent throughout the day as well, with the usual small Mayfly and Midge patterns producing the greatest numbers of fish. Small Stonefly and Caddis Pupa patterns are also finding good numbers of fish. Fishing a PMD in a size 16 with a Zebra Midge or Mayfly emerger dropped below can be a great way to fish the Crooked during these hatches. Take advantage of the cooler weather and get out on the water!
