Lower Deschutes Update August 25, 2023

The Lower Deschutes has been fishing well. Nymphing remains the most productive method for all times of the day but early am and late evening provide some nice dry fly opportunities for PMDs/PEDs and caddis. For nymphs we have been liking jigged leeches, pheasant tails, duracells, spanish bullet quill nymphs, and copper johns. A few guests on our trips have already hooked steelhead in the day stretch so they are around although not in large numbers yet. We reached the required fish passage over Bonneville to keep steelheading open through at least the end of this year which is great news.
