Lower Deschutes (Warm Springs Area) – Friday, November 21

The Warm Springs stretch has been fishing well and showing classic late-fall behavior. Cooler mornings are pushing trout into the softer insides and longer, slower runs, while afternoons continue to offer the most consistent action. Nymphing is still the name of the game, and with the whitefish spawn kicking off, eggs have been a major player — a small bead or glow bug behind a mayfly nymph has been tough to beat. Jig perdigons, two-bits, and caddis pupae are all producing steady numbers as well. Keep an eye out if you’re swinging — there are still a few steelhead nosing around the system, and anglers have been surprised here and there with an incidental grab. On overcast days, the BWO trickle has fish willing to look up, especially in the slicks and softer edges. As we move toward winter flows, methodical coverage and good drifts are key. Overall, the WS area is offering solid late-season fishing with the added excitement of eggs in the drift and the slim chance of connecting with a stray steelhead.
