Metolius Reoort - 5/8/26
The Metolius is fishing really well right now. Water conditions are excellent, flows are stable, and bug activity has picked up a lot with the warmer weather this past week.
PMDs are really starting to show during the afternoons. March Browns are still around too, especially on cloudier days, and caddis activity is building into the evenings. BWOs are fading but you’ll still see a few during cooler weather windows.
Nymphing has been the most consistent ticket. Golden stones, jigged pheasant tails, hare’s ears, caddis pupa, and smaller mayfly patterns are producing action. Focus on seams, pocket water, and softer edges where fish are starting to spread out more.
More dry fly opportunities are starting to happen, especially during the afternoon PMD windows and evening caddis activity. Bull trout fishing has also been decent for anglers putting in time with streamers around deeper structure.
