Educational Event This Week!

EDUCATIONAL SERIES AT FLY AND FIELD

Come join us for a very special evening at Fly and Field Outfitters when we host a Educational Series event featuring our fearless leader, Scott Cook discussing his stomping grounds, the Cascade Lakes. This is a rare opportunity to get all the insights from two decades of plying the often mysterious waters so nearby Bend.

Scott has been fishing the lakes for nearly thirty years and guiding them hard for the last twenty. From the big names like Crane Prairie and East to lesser discussed waters as the Twins, both Lava lakes, Elk, Hosmer, Sparks and Paulina, come delve into the world of a renowned lake guide. He’ll go over the hatches throughout the season as well as which lakes respond well to the various weather patterns we experience here. There will be in-depth conversation about the most trusted patterns and how to use them.

Be sure to add this even to your calendar. The event will run from 6-8pm on Wednesday May 10 down at the shop. As usual the evening is free. We will supply some beer and munchies and all you need to do is show up with a chair. Please RSVP to the shop if you plan on attending. 541-318-1616

                                                     Latest Fishing Reports

We’ve been all over our local water this last week. Most of our rivers and several lakes have been covered. We’ve had guides on the big river daily. Click here for detailed reports.

SPRING ON THE LOWER DESCHUTES – BOOK YOUR TRIPS NOW!!!

The Salmonfly is easily the coolest aquatic insect we encounter in our local rivers. Every year, spanning around six weeks, this massive stonefly -at four-years old- makes it’s move towards the banks where it hatches into the protein-rich morsel the trout can’t get enough of. From the beginning of the nymphal migration until the last winged adult has finished its business, the fish feast on the bug as if their lives depend on it. We run trips both in the “Day Stretch” as well between Trout Creek and Harpham Flat  near Maupin. Our Camp Crew just got off three days and report not only lots of beautiful Redbands eating large nymphs, but even a few looking up and trying to eat our indicators! We had our first Chubby Chernobyl “eats” of the year. There is good reason to feel nothing but positive thoughts looking at the next month and week or two. Give a call to the shop 541-318-1616 and let us get you in the books for either a day trip or, better yet, down the “Camp Stretch” for what we all feel is the coolest fly-fishing experience on offer anywhere. There are some REALLY GOOD dates available. Get on it now!

If you’re more the DIY type, come by the shop for all the latest, most accurate intel as the hatch progresses. We have a ton of the old favorites flies to imitate the big bug as well as some fresh new patterns bound to fool some slabs this month.

                                                             Spring hours

Well, seeing as though it would appear there might be a little spring before summer starts, we have decided to go to our FISHING SEASON HOURS here at the shop. In order to satisfy our hardcore anglers around town, the shop will now open at 7am and stay open for twelve straight hours Monday through Friday, 9-5 Saturday AND Sunday for the rest of the season. So if you need stuff early or late, weekday or weekend, we’re here for ya! Happy fishin’.
