    Great Fishpond quality, but too small for larger reels

    I already own a large Fishpond Reel Case, which I use to store various reels. I think very highly of Fishpond, and they stand by their warranties 100 percent. Great company. So…. my existing larger FP case can hold around 9 reels, which seat in the case vertically. It is perfect. I thought that a small 3-reel version (this review) would be good for global adventure travel. It is not. The case has 3 vertical slots that are adjustable, just like the 9 reel case. However, unlike the larger case, the zipped lid is way lower…i.e., the case height is about 1 inch lower than the larger case. No bueno. Anything larger than a smallish 3-5 weight reel will not fit. So, my Hatch 5+, 7+, 9+ and 11+ or any spey reel will absolutely not fit in there vertically. You may get 2 reels in laying down sideways, but not 3. I’ll still put it to use for trout stuff in my van, just not suitable for global airline travel which generally involves large reels.
