Just about 20 minutes south of Bend, Sunriver is a small residential and vacation community. Your Vacation, Your Fishing

We know that your vacation time is precious, and many guests want to enjoy other activities that Central Oregon offers. That said, we offer a variety of trips that can fit into your vacation plans. If you are looking to escape to the mountains for just a few hours, our half-day trips may be a good option for you. Our half-day trips consist of four hours on the water with the chance to walk and wade on a river or cast off the decks of our custom-built lake boats. If you have time for a full day, we offer those as well! Eight hours spent on the water with lunch included.

We offer guided trips in the Sunriver area year-round. When the sun is shining or the snow a fallin', we are happy to get you out on the water! Some fishing areas close during the winter, but we are delighted to get you out on the Fall River or Crooked River.

Typically, your trip will start at the shop on the west side of Bend, Oregon, where you will be outfitted in gear. There are a few additional costs, including fishing licenses, flies, and a leader. Feel free to grab a Fly and Field hat as well! Once set for the day, you will follow your guide to the water, and the fishing will begin! Our guides will have coolers with water, Gatorade, soda, and ice. Feel free to bring adult beverages, and we can keep them cool for you.

FAQ's About Sunriver Area Trips

What is included on a Walk and Wade Trip?
As with all our guided adventures, we will outfit you with a rod, reel, waders, and boots which are all included in the price. On full-day trips, we serve a full lunch either aboard your guide's boat or ashore. Lunch will be your choice of grilled chicken, brats, burger, or deli-style sandwich, and all will be served with salad and a dessert. If you have any dietary restrictions or food allergies, we will accommodate you and your party. Fly & Field will supply cold soda, Gatorade, and water, and if you are interested in having some beers or other alcoholic beverages, bring them along, and we are happy to pack them in the cooler.
What isn't included in the price of a guided trip?
You will be responsible for purchasing a few flies for the day. If you do not already have an Oregon Fishing License, we can sell you one here at the shop on either the trip or beforehand. Also, a generous gratuity for the guide is always welcome for their local knowledge and expertise!
What should I wear for a Walk and Wade Trip?
Dressing appropriately is an essential aspect of an enjoyable day on the water; in the spring and fall, that can mean anything from a puffy jacket and beanie to a UV protectant shirt and a sun hat. During the summer, the vast majority of the time, we are in lightweight clothes and a large-brimmed hat. For under your waders, a light base layer and some warm socks will be fine. We recommend a pair of polarized sunglasses for better water visibility, and if the weather looks like it might go sideways, we suggest a rain jacket.
What should I bring for a day on the Cascade Lakes?
We recommend some sunscreen, lip balm, and anything you might need to snack on before or after lunch. Bring a camera or your phone for getting the "grip-n-grin" shot! Also, we are not allowed to supply any alcoholic beverages to our clients. You are more than welcome to bring a six-pack or whatever your preference is. By perfectly reliable sources, we've been informed that a cold beer goes nicely with a day of fishing.
How many people can you accommodate on the Cascade Lakes?
The maximum per boat is three, with some exceptions when we might recommend two. We can take multiple boats out for larger parties. For group outings, we also offer all-inclusive pricing. Contact the shop at 1-866-800-2812 for how that works, and we look forward to a great time fly fishing on the pristine Central Oregon waters with you!
What species of fish can we expect to catch?
Well, that depends on which lake we take you to! And that will depend on what your aspirations are for your day out with us. Typically, we will listen to what you'd like to get out of the day and then recommend which lake we should hit. The other variables will be the weather and fishing conditions. For example, suppose you tell us you're an experienced angler who would love the opportunity for the fish of a lifetime, understanding that such a pursuit may not offer a ton of action throughout the day. In that case, we will most likely steer the conversation towards Crane Prairie or Wickiup, where we'll chase the big rainbow and brown trout. If you've got little or no experience and want a casual day trying to catch a few fish, we'll talk about East Lake or the Lava lakes, where we will have chances at rainbow, brown, and brook trout. At Hosmer Lake, we will look for rainbow and cutthroat. As you can see, it's a 'choose your own adventure' set up, and we will help you along every step of the way. The Crooked River has native Redband rainbow trout and Mountain Whitefish. The Fall River is primarily a rainbow river with a few brookies and browns thrown in. The Upper Deschutes is a beautiful brook trout fishery, but there are some rainbows and whitefish in there too.
