Big Fish In The Fall!

Big Fish In The Fall!

Timing has been everything on the Fall as of late, watching the ODFW stocking schedule and fishing when there are fresh fish in the system will greatly improve the odds of success. There aren’t as many fish being put into the system, but the fish that are being put in are generally quite large. After a couple of week lull action has picked up and we’ve been receiving reports of some truly massive rainbows feeding aggressively. As always, the tubes, hatchery, and campground, are the best access points. Fish are spread well throughout the system and many of the fish put in throughout the summer have stuck around. However, the fish that have been in the system for any substantial length of time are typically quite selective and require a delicate presentation, light tippet, and small Midge or Mayfly pattern. The big fish that are new to the system are usually quite aggressive towards big and flashy attractor style nymphs and small streamers or leech patterns.
