Cooler mornings and sunny afternoons are creating ideal stillwater conditions across the region. Hatch windows are staying open longer, and both surface and subsurface action have been solid.
Hosmer Lake continues to fish well. Red PT Jigs, Chromies, and Callibaetis nymphs are all producing. Damsels, soft hackles, and leeches should stay in your rotation. A few Traveling Sedge sightings suggest skittering opportunities may kick off soon.
East Lake is fishing consistently, with strong reports on Chironomids, Callibaetis, and Scuds under indicators in 8–12 feet of water. Callibaetis hatches are gaining momentum, and fish are responding to emerger rigs and attractor nymphs. Surface eats on ants and beetles have also picked up during calm periods.
Paulina Lake continues to fish great, possibly even better than East. Balanced Leeches and Red PTs under indicators are producing well, especially along the shoals. Stripping damsels and small baitfish patterns is pulling aggressive takes. Topwater fishing with beetles, ants, and flying ants has also been effective when the lake lays down.
Little Lava Lake has been productive with dry fly windows during Callibaetis hatches and strong subsurface action on Chironomids—especially olive and red variations. Red Holographic Jigs, Spicy Squirrels, and Blood Worms continue to catch both hatchery fish and some quality wild Brookies and Cranebows.
Crane Prairie has been a bit mixed, but the Quinn and Cultus arms are fishing the best right now. Callibaetis, Damsels, and Chironomids are the primary hatches to match. Dry-dropper rigs with smaller Chubbies and nymphs like 2 Bit Hookers or Black Double Downs have been effective, and leech patterns are starting to turn fish as they push deeper.
