Crooked River Update

Crooked River Update

They bumped the flows last week so the river should be just about as clear as it gets. The weather was hot this weekend, this will push fish into the deeper holes and tail outs so go heavy when you’re nymphing. Euro nymphing is a great way to get deep fast and catch fish, but using a heavy euro style nymph with a small midge or mayfly nymph pattern under an indicator will produce numbers throughout the heat of the day as well. Evenings and mornings are best to get fish on top, we have been fishing PMDs and tan caddis no bigger than a #16 in the riffles, Eddie’s and close to structure. Hatches have been sporadic, look for groups of fish eating in current seams and tail outs.

Suggested Dries: Tan X-Caddis #16-20, Black or Tan Foam Bodied Caddis #14-18, Black or Tan Elk Hair Caddis #14-18, Cutter’s Caddis #14-18, Parachute PMD #16-18, Tilt Wing PMD #16-18, Hackle Stacker PMD #16-18, Parachute Adams #16-18, Purple Haze #16-20
