FALL RIVER REPORT - 10/16/26

The Fall River continues to offer good fishing as we move into the middle of October. Consistent spring-fed flows and cooler fall weather are keeping conditions ideal, with recent stocking activity adding to the opportunities throughout the open sections. Deeper slots, weed edges, and submerged structure continuing to hold fish throughout the system.

Dry-fly fishing has been particularly good recently, with BWOs providing morning opportunities and PMDs becoming more prominent midday.  Smaller dries and emergers are worth having available, particularly when fish become selective during active hatches.

Subsurface fishing remains productive with Perdigons, BWO and PMD nymphs, midges, scuds, and smaller attractor patterns all worth having in the rotation. Balanced leeches and small streamers continue to be good options around deeper slots and structure. Fall River below Fall River Falls is closed to angling through May 21, 2027, while the river above the falls remains open year-round.
