LAKE REPORT - 10/23/26

The Cascade Lakes continue to offer some good late-season fishing, with Crane Prairie, East, and Paulina all providing opportunities as we move toward the end of October. Crane Prairie has been producing some good rainbow fishing, although very low water and submerged hazards are making access more challenging. Paulina continues to be a good option, while East is offering opportunities for larger browns moving closer to shore as fall progresses.

Beetles remain an important part of the mix at Paulina, with some good surface fishing still being reported around shorelines and shoals. Terrestrials can also provide opportunities at East, although subsurface presentations have become the more consistent approach.

Subsurface fishing continues to produce with balanced leeches, scuds, smaller nymphs, and baitfish patterns all worth having in the rotation. Leeches and streamers remain good options at East and Paulina, particularly around shallow shorelines where larger browns have been showing. Crane Prairie has been producing on leeches, with some good opportunities for sight fishing to cruising rainbows in shallow water. Crane Prairie closes to angling November 1, while East and Paulina remain open year-round.
