LAKE REPORT - 7/17/26
The Cascade Lakes are settling into their peak summer pattern providing consistent opportunities for multiple species. Crane Prairie continues to reward anglers willing to work weed edges, submerged channels, and flooded timber, while East and Paulina are producing steady action with healthy rainbow trout, trophy-class browns, and some of the best kokanee fishing around.

Callibaetis have become a key part of the daily hatch across the lakes, creating afternoon dry fly opportunities when conditions are calm. Chironomids continue to fish well throughout the day, while damselfly nymphs are becoming increasingly active around weed beds and shoreline structure. As the afternoon progresses, trout are cruising shallow flats more frequently, making it worthwhile to stay mobile and adjust presentations as fish change feeding zones.Â
Suspending balanced leeches, chironomids, and Callibaetis nymphs beneath an indicator continues to be the most consistent tactic. Anglers are finding success by mixing indicator rigs with stripped presentations throughout the day before switching to dries as evening hatches develop.
