Lava Lakes Report 6/4/21

The Lava Lakes are fishing well, especially after the heat wave moved through. The water temperatures have risen a bit which increases a trout’s metabolism and insect activity. Going for a balanced leech - chironomid rig will definitely be a good way to go. Start to think about balanced damsels and callibaetis with the warm temps. Stripping damsel nymphs, leeches and streamers with an intermediate line is also an excellent choice. For dry flies, focus your efforts on terrestrials for now. Callibaetis hatches may not start for a bit; however, if you see them on the water give it a shot. This week offers some cool weather fishing, probably the last of the season, so get after it.
