Lower Deschutes Report 6/11/21

The Lower Deschutes is fishing very well. It’s always sad when the big bug hatches are wrapping up, but a couple may still be buzzing around and the fish are always hungry. Caddis has started to become the bug of choice. While it’s cool, size 14 - 18 is a good range to focus on. Pale morning and evening duns are prominent as well. Make sure you’ve got cripples and emergers. For nymphs, focus on pupa and PMD nymphs. Larger stonefly nymphs always have potential to get an eat, or they can just attract the fish to your smaller flies. Jigg style euro nymphs do really well on the Lower year-round. Remember to try out swinging pupa and soft hackles when you’re tired of looking at an indicator. The fish will likely be looking up during the cooler cloudy days in the upcoming week.
