METOLIUS REPORT - 11/6/26

The Metolius continues to offer good fishing as we move into November, with stable flows around 1,200 CFS and cold water keeping conditions consistent. Nymphing and streamer fishing remain productive, while midday hatches continue to provide some good dry-fly opportunities. The Metolius above Allingham Campground Bridge is now closed for the season, while the river downstream remains open year-round.

The hatch mix is narrowing with BWOs becoming the primary focus, particularly during the middle of the day. PMDs and midges remain part of the mix, with smaller dries and emergers worth having available when fish are feeding near the surface. October Caddis activity is winding down, although caddis pupa remain an important subsurface option.

Subsurface fishing continues to produce with caddis pupa, egg patterns, Perdigons, smaller Baetis nymphs, and stonefly nymphs all worth having in the rotation. Word is bull trout fishing has been particularly good, with some larger fish being caught on streamers around deeper pools and structure. With spawning activity still a consideration, continue to watch carefully for redds and avoid disturbing spawning fish.
