METOLIUS REPORT - 9/18/26
The Metolius continues to settle into its fall rhythm, and September is shaping up! Cooler weather and shorter days are creating great conditions throughout the system.
The hatch mix continues to broaden with Mahogany Duns now showing more regularly and BWOs becoming increasingly important. PMDs remain part of the mix, while Green Drakes are beginning to provide additional opportunities depending on the day. Caddis remain abundant, with micro caddis, tan caddis, and October Caddis all worth having available.
Subsurface fishing remains steady with Perdigons, soft hackles, caddis pupa, mayfly nymphs, and stonefly patterns all worth having in the rotation. Bull trout remain active and streamers continue to be a good option through deeper pools and structure. Chinook and bull trout spawning activity remains underway, so continue to watch carefully for redds and give spawning fish plenty of room.
