Metolius Update

Metolius Update

Pretty classic stuff out on the Met right now, look for different baetis anytime after noon and expect midges on most days. I’ve seen some bigger mayflies out there recently and some small black stoneflies crawling around too. The weekend should be a great time on the river as it’s supposed to cool back down by the end of next week it time to head out there! Blue winged olives are still the primary hatch, fish small and light and make sure to have plenty of different patterns for these picky spring creek trout. Subsurface will be the way to catch the most fish, including whiteys, fish golden stones, small mayfly patterns and jigged nymphs as close to the bottom as you can get them. Utilize plenty of split shot and always fluorocarbon.
