Upper Deschutes – June 27, 2025

The Upper Deschutes continues to fish well, but be ready for thick mosquito pressure—bug spray and a head net are strongly recommended. PMDs and Caddis are the primary hatches, with good dry fly windows in the afternoons and early evenings. Terrestrials like ants and beetles are also producing, especially around meadow stretches and undercut banks.

Nymphing is the most consistent approach throughout the day. Perdigons, Scuds, Spanish Bullets, Pheasant Tails, and Fire Starters are all getting grabs in pocket water and seams. For anglers looking to move bigger fish, small streamers like the Sculpzilla stripped tight to structure or downed timber have been productive.

If you're hunting dry fly eats, a Purple Haze or Parachute Adams will cover most situations. Conditions are holding steady, and with the current mix of bugs and structure, the Upper D should continue fishing well into the weekend.
