CROOKED REPORT - 8/7/26
The Crooked River continues to fish consistently with stable releases keeping water temperatures ideal and trout actively feeding throughout the day. Fish are spread throughout the riffles, deeper buckets, and softer transition water, and recent reports continue to point to strong catch rates.
Caddis continue to dominate the evening hatch, while PMDs and midges provide steady opportunities through the afternoon. Fish have been feeding consistently on smaller insects rather than locking into one specific hatch, making accurate presentations and fly size more important than exact pattern selection.
Subsurface fishing continues to be the most productive approach. Scuds, Zebra Midges, PMD nymphs, olive Perdigons, Two Bit Hookers, and tan caddis pupa are all producing fish when drifted naturally through the deeper seams and walking-speed runs. Anglers finding the most success are making small adjustments to depth and weight as they move from run to run.
