LAKE REPORT - 9/11/26
The Cascade Lakes are beginning to make a more noticeable transition toward fall as the cooler weather continues to bring water temperatures down. The biggest improvement is at Crane Prairie, where colder water and improving clarity have both been monitored. East and Paulina remain good options, with cooler conditions opening up more of the day and allowing fish to move between deeper water and the shallows.
Callibaetis remain important at East, with the second brood continuing to provide opportunities as we move through September. Chironomids remain part of the mix in deeper water, while ants, beetles, and hoppers are still good options around East and Paulina.
Subsurface fishing remains steady acroos the high lakes with chironomids, Callibaetis nymphs, balanced leeches, and smaller attractor nymphs all worth having in the rotation. Balanced leeches, chironomids, and smaller Zebra Midges should become increasingly useful.
