Crooked River Report - 10/2/26
The Crooked is moving into October with flows hovering around 100 CFS below Bowman Dam. The lower water has made for good wading conditions, with productive fishing reported throughout. Pocket water, riffle seams, and deeper runs remain good places to focus. With irrigation season expected to wrap up soon, flows will be worth watching over the coming weeks.
Afternoon dry-fly fishing continues to be a highlight, with PMDs and BWOs providing good opportunities during the middle of the day. Cooler and overcast conditions should continue to favor BWOs, while midges and smaller caddis remain part of the mix. October Caddis are also worth having available as we move further into fall.
Subsurface fishing remains productive with small Baetis nymphs, Perdigons, Two Bit Hookers, Split Case PMDs, scuds, and midges all worth having in the rotation. Soft hackles and smaller attractor nymphs continue to be good options through riffles and deeper runs.
