With Fly & Field since: 1999. Basically forever.
Scott was born in California, fished a ton as a kid, and moved to Bend in 1989. For his high school graduation present, he and his dad went on a guided trip down the Deschutes. On the drive home, Scott told him, “That’s what I want to do with the rest of my life.”
With Fly & Field since: 1999. Forever!
Favorite fly and why: Chubby. Best indicator ever.
Best brewery, beer, or bar in town: Century Commons.
Favorite destination fishing spot: Christmas Island. There’s something about walking the flats. It’s quiet, wide open, and then suddenly everything turns into instant chaos.
What do you splurge on: International fishing with Henry or a new boat.

Kyle S.
General Manager | Business Operations
With Fly & Field since: 2013

With Fly & Field since: 2013
Kyle is an Oregonian who grew up in Idaho, served in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman, and somehow turned a fly shop job into a full-blown career. He’s been involved with Fly & Field since 2013, earning both his bachelor’s degree and MBA along the way, which mostly means he can now make very official spreadsheets about very unofficial fly shop problems. These days, Kyle keeps the operation moving, handles the behind-the-scenes chaos, and occasionally talks guides off the ledge.
Favorite destination: Alaska. Because it’s Alaska, and it’s badass.
Favorite place to eat in town: Pinky G’s.
Favorite outdoor activity besides fishing: Exploring Oregon with my wife and kids. Camping, biking, and whatever gets everyone outside.
What I splurge on: My kids, Monster Jam trucks for my son, my wife when she’ll let me, and boring responsible stuff like brokerage accounts and Roth IRAs.
Off the water: Working, coaching youth sports, hanging with my wife and kids, or trying to convince myself I’m relaxing while thinking about work.
Most Bend thing I do: Work in the outdoor industry.
Unofficial shop title: HR / Guide Therapist.
Fun fact: I wake up before 4 a.m. every day to lift and I’m a voracious reader, which means I’m usually either in the gym, reading, or halfway through a book no one asked me about.

With Fly & Field since: 2020
Josh grew up in Bend and spent most of his free time fishing the lakes and rivers around Central Oregon. Over the years, he’s built a deep knowledge of the local water and a lot of respect for the fish that live here. Favorite season: Fall. Steelhead are in the rivers, trout get aggressive before winter, the colors are phenomenal, and the weather is hard to beat.
