Fishing has been good on the Crooked, not much has changed since our last report. Flows have been steady and nymphing with Midge and Egg patterns has been the most consistent way to find fish. There is plenty of opportunity to fish dries, typically in the early afternoon or on overcast days. Fish can be quite selective with the low flows, small bugs, and abundant pressure so downsizing tippet and flies can be helpful if things are slow. Focus efforts on the deep, slow runs and holes that have plenty of structure. When fish are rising it is possible to target them in some of the flat water sections that we typically avoid, which can be a fun way to practice delicate presentations at distance. Otherwise, stick to the go-to Zebra Midges, Winkers Midges, and small egg patterns to maximize numbers.
