Crooked River Update

Crooked River Update

The recent snow created a bump in the flows below Bowman Dam. At last check water levels were pretty stable around 80cfs which is certainly a welcome break from the low flows of winter for the fish in the Crooked. A sudden change in flows can reduce feeding activity for a short time, but for now things look pretty stable and the fishing on the Crooked should be good. We haven’t received any specific reports as to the amount of parking available along the road, but access doesn’t seem to be an issue for now. I would expect most if not all of the snow will be gone soon with lots of sun and warm weather in the forecast. Continue to watch for BWO’s in the early afternoons. Cloudy days will be best for surface activity especially as the weather warms. Nymphing should continue to produce fish consistently, and the warmer weather will eventually increase aggression and provide opportunity to find fish on small streamers and swung soft hackles.
