Crooked River Update

Crooked River Update

The Crooked River is a special place to spend a few hours fishing in the fall! With BWOs and a few caddis still coming off, it can be especially fun throwing dry flies around for eager trout. We have been fortunate to be throwing dry flies and dry droppers for most of the day. The blue-winged olives have been coming off in the mid-morning as well as early afternoon. If you are not having luck on top, switch to nymphing. We are still running a double nymph rig when are fishing under an indicator.

For dries, we are fishing size 16-18 extended body blue wing olive, size 16-18 purple haze, size 16-18 parachute adams, and size 16-18 bwo hackle stackers. Fishing 5x tippets and leader.

For nymphs, we are fishing size 18-20 two bit hookers in red or black, size 20-22 black or red winkers midges, sz 18-20 olive tailwater tinies, and size 18-20 red or black copper johns. Fishing 5x or 6x fluorocarbon subsurface!
