East Lake Report 10/22/21

East Lake has had really consistent days over the last week. There aren’t tons of fish being caught but the ones that are getting fooled are sizable. Fish have been cruising very close to the banks. Don’t expect to be dry if you head up to the caldera, this week has lots of rain and snow in the forecast. Callibaetis are likely done for the year. Dry fly fishing likely won’t yield much success. Nymphing has been picking up some fish, the dark assassin is putting in work. Chironomids and midges are also worth a shot, smaller sizes are a good choice. Lots of fish are getting fooled by balanced leeches, big and small. Leeches and streamers on the strip are getting the job done as well. Our season at East Lake is undoubtedly nearing its end, don’t delay your trip up there, by November the snow might be deep.
