FALL REPORT - 8/7/26
The Fall River continues to provide exceptional midsummer fishing, with its cold spring-fed water keeping trout active throughout the day. Fish are holding tight to weed lines, undercut banks, submerged timber, and deeper glides, but they're becoming increasingly selective as the season progresses. Anglers who take their time, lengthen their leaders, and focus on clean, drag-free presentations are consistently finding the best fish.
PMDs remain the foundation of the afternoon hatch, while caddis have become increasingly important as evening approaches. Midges continue to provide steady feeding opportunities while terrestrials—including ants and beetles—are now a meaningful part of the daily menu.
Subsurface fishing continues to produce the most consistent action between hatch windows. Zebra Midges, PMD nymphs, olive Perdigons, Hare's Ears, and tan caddis pupa are all producing fish when drifted naturally through deeper lanes and alongside weed beds. During low-light periods, slowly working a small olive leech or sculpin pattern around submerged logs and cut banks has continued to move some of the river's larger browns.
