There are PLENTY of fish in the Fall! The guys at the hatchery have indicated that they are stocking the river weekly at this point. Not hundreds at a time, but, a decent amount of fish in each of the 3 common drop locations. It is nice to see fish back in the river given what has been going on over the past year or so. With fish in the river again, the crowds have started to thicken. Especially on the weekends. If you are adamant on fishing the Fall, we recommend getting an early start or wait until later in the evening to find some space for yourself. Fish are eating a variety of nymphs. We have been getting them on 5 or 6x fluorocarbon leader/tippet under the indicator. Our go to flies have been size 16-18 red copper johns, sz 16-18 flashback pheasant tail (no beadhead), sz 18-22 purple zebra midge, sz 18-20 two bit hookers (red or black), and sz 16-18 anatomays. If you see some PMDs coming off, switch over to a sz 16-18 hackle stacker PMD, purple haze, or parachute adams.
