Fall River Update

Fall River Update

The Fall River was stocked for the last time until spring so throughout fall and winter there will be no new fish entering the system. The fish will begin to spread out into the upper and lower sections of the river, as well as all the way to the deschutes. Fishing near the hatchery is the most popular option but getting up to the campground or even hiking below the tubes can put you on some less pressured water and get you away from fellow anglers. As Always small flies are the ticket, anything black in a size 18 or smaller is a good bet when nymphing. Both Euro and traditional techniques are options when considering how to present your fly. Hatches are decent, Id fish either a purple haze or other small mayfly pattern to rising fish or use a larger foam chubby or hopper as part of a dry dropper rig.
