Lakes Update September 20th, 2024
September 20, 2024
East Lake might not be at the top of the list but we've had success with balanced leeches, damsels, and chironomids with some fantastic hatches lately. Don’t expect to see a whole lot of callibaetis though as that's greatly slowed down over the past few weeks. For a change of pace, try using a beetle, ant, or chubby pattern instead of an indicator. Stripping small buggers or baitfish patterns has also yielded good results. The best time to fish seems to be early morning or late evening.Paulina is fishing similarly, so if you’re headed there, expect similar conditions. Scuds, ice cream cones, beetles, and two bits are all great flies to fish with there. Three Creeks Lake is also solid right now. If you haven’t fished there before, there’s no better time to fish it than in the fall! Stripping small streamers and using suspended flies like balanced leeches and chironomids under an indicator have been effective. For some topwater action, darker callibaetis and black dancer caddis are making an appearance and is my personal go-to way of fishing the lake.
