Mother's Day Caddis On The Crooked

Mother's Day Caddis On The Crooked

The Mother’s Day Caddis hatch on the Crooked is in full swing! Warmer days are bringing out astounding numbers of bugs, and we’ve had multiple reports of true “blanket hatches” occurring late last week. It’s hard to imagine, but there have been so many bugs at times that it can difficult to attract fish to our artificial flies bobbing in masses of the real deal. All else aside, the fishing has been great, with dry fly tactics being the go to method most days. Small, dark bodied caddis patterns will get the job done well, various attractor dries have also been working. On the occasional chilly day, it is wise to be equipped with a nymph set up, and streamers remain an option for those looking to strip or swing a fly. Flows have remained steady and are currently hovering around 235 CFS. Fish are comfortable and looking to eat!
