Three Creeks Lake Report 8/13/21

As an alternative to fishing at the Lava Lakes, we recommend checking out Three Creeks Lake. This high alpine has been staying cool and fishing well over the summer. There are good callibaetis hatches around 4. After that, dark caddis are out, they’re typically around a size 18. Terrestrials are great to use any time of the day, especially with a callibaetis nymph or midge dropper. Nymphing with callibaetis and damsel nymphs is great. If you find yourself in a deeper area, tie on a balanced leech and a chironomid. Don’t forget dark assassins, sometimes they seem to outfish everything. Slowly retrieving callibaetis and damselfly nymphs can be super effective as well. Let’s all hope that this is the last heatwave we see for a long time. Cooler days are coming, hopefully within the next few weeks.
